Privacy Policy
Last updated August 7, 2026
Discount Depot Auctions ("Discount Depot Auctions," "we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of bidders and visitors who use our website and auction services. This policy explains the types of information we collect, how we use it, when we may share it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect the following categories of information:
- Account and contact information: name, email address, phone number, mailing or billing address, and account settings.
- Auction activity: auction registrations, accepted terms, bids, confidential maximum bids, watchlist activity, wins, invoices, payment status, and pickup status.
- Payment-method metadata: if you choose or are required to save a card, the full card number and CVV are handled by Square. We may store a Square customer/card identifier, card brand, last four digits, expiration month/year, authorization date, and consent version/timestamp. We do not store the full card number or CVV on our servers.
- Technical and security information: IP address, browser/device information, session information, security logs, and similar data used to operate and protect the service.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us about a lot, auction, invoice, pickup, account, or support issue.
- Tax-exemption information: if tax-exempt functionality is offered and you submit documentation, we may retain the information needed to review and administer that status.
2. How we use information
We use information to operate our auctions and website, including to create and secure bidder accounts, accept and record bids, determine winners, generate invoices, administer pickup, provide support, enforce auction rules, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with legal and tax obligations, and improve reliability and usability.
3. Payment processing and Square
Payment-card information is tokenized and processed by Square when card-on-file functionality is used. Discount Depot Auctions does not receive or retain your complete card number or CVV. Saving a card does not itself create a charge. Whether a card is required or may be charged depends on the payment policy displayed for the applicable auction and the terms you accept for that auction.
4. How information may be shared
We may share information only as reasonably necessary to operate the service, including with service providers that perform hosting, database, authentication, payment processing, security, communications, or similar functions on our behalf. Current infrastructure may include providers such as Supabase, Cloudflare, and Square.
We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, or a valid government request; to investigate fraud, abuse, safety, or security issues; to enforce our agreements; or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, sale, or transfer of all or part of the business.
5. Sale or sharing of personal information
As of the date of this policy, Discount Depot Auctions does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices materially change, we will update this policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.
6. Cookies, sessions, and browser signals
We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies that are necessary for sign-in, security, bidder preferences, watchlists, and normal site operation. Browser "Do Not Track" signals are not governed by a single industry standard. To the extent required by applicable law, we will honor legally recognized opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, if our data practices become subject to those requirements.
7. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service and meet operational, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, and legal obligations. Auction, bid, invoice, and payment records may need to be retained after an account is closed. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of record and applicable law.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information. No online service, database, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so you should also protect your password and promptly notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
9. California privacy rights
California law may provide residents with rights regarding personal information, including rights to know or access information, request deletion, request correction, opt out of certain sales or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal service when exercising applicable privacy rights. These rights apply to the extent required by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, and other applicable laws.
To submit a privacy request, contact us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and legal exceptions may permit or require us to retain certain records.
10. Age requirement
Our auction services are intended for adults who are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into binding agreements. We do not knowingly permit minors to register as bidders.
11. Third-party links
The site may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this policy.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, technology, or legal obligations change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated date.
