Condition Guide
Our condition grades are a practical cataloging tool for liquidation, overstock, surplus, shelf-pull, return, and pre-owned merchandise. They describe what we can reasonably observe at the time of cataloging; they are not manufacturer warranties or guarantees of future performance. Always read the lot-specific description, notes, and photos together with the grade.
Our condition grades
New
The item appears unused and in new condition. Original packaging may show warehouse, shipping, liquidation, or handling wear and may have been opened for identification, photography, or cataloging. Factory seals, full retail packaging, every accessory, and manufacturer warranty eligibility are not guaranteed unless the lot specifically says so.
Appears New
A limited visual inspection shows no obvious signs of meaningful prior use. Packaging may be opened, damaged, incomplete, replaced, or missing, and we cannot verify that the item has never been used. Functionality is not assumed unless testing is specifically noted.
Open Box
The packaging has been opened and the item may have been handled, assembled, lightly used, returned, inspected, or repackaged. Cosmetic marks, missing minor accessories, packaging damage, incomplete hardware, or other signs of handling may be present. Review the lot photos and notes carefully.
Pre-Owned
The item shows or is known to have prior ownership or use. Wear, cosmetic damage, missing parts, incomplete accessories, repairs, alterations, or operational issues may be present. Completeness and functionality are not guaranteed unless specifically stated.
Damaged
The item has visible or known damage, missing components, incomplete functionality, or another significant issue. Damaged items may require repair and may be suitable only for parts, salvage, or project use. Review all known issues shown or described in the lot listing.
Visual inspection vs. testing
A visual inspection means we looked for readily observable condition issues. It does not mean the item was powered on, assembled, installed, connected to utilities, calibrated, load-tested, or tested through every feature. If testing was performed, the lot should say what was tested.
Completeness and accessories
Do not assume accessories, remotes, chargers, cords, batteries, manuals, mounting hardware, adapters, tools, or original packaging are included unless they are shown in the photos or specifically listed in the description.
Packaging
Boxes may have labels, tape, writing, tears, dents, moisture marks, crushed corners, missing inserts, or other warehouse and shipping wear. Packaging condition alone does not determine the merchandise grade unless the lot notes say otherwise.
Quantity and included contents
A lot may contain one item, a set, a pair, a case, multiple boxes, or a mixed group. The lot title, description, quantity field, and photos should be reviewed together so you understand what is included in the bid.
Photos, stock images, and product information
Some listings may use a stock or reference image to help identify the product. Reference images are illustrative and may not show the exact condition, packaging, color, accessories, revision, or included contents of the physical lot. Actual-item photos and written lot-specific notes should be given greater weight. Product specifications, model information, and retail/reference values may come from third-party sources and should be independently verified if they are important to your bidding decision.
Retail and reference values
Any retail, MSRP, or reference value shown is provided for convenience and is not a guarantee of current market value, resale value, availability, or the price another retailer is actually charging. Do your own research and bid based on the value the lot has to you.
Before you bid
- Review every available photo and the full lot description.
- Read all condition, testing, quantity, and missing-parts notes.
- Check model numbers, dimensions, compatibility, and fit for your intended use.
- Do not assume unshown accessories or components are included.
- Ask questions before bidding if a material detail is unclear.
- Bid with the understanding that auction merchandise is sold as-is, subject to the applicable auction terms and law.
